WHY RICHLAND

We're on a Roll

There’s something about this place: the rolling rivers, spectacular landscapes, stunning sunsets and a sense of exploration that make it truly unique.

People do business here because of our expanding economic opportunities, incredible talent base and affordable land, facilities and power prices. But they also choose to open shop or expand here because it’s a fantastic place to call home.

Come to Richland! We’re ready for you.

Richland’s Advantages

Our momentum is propelled by our greatest assets: our people and our prime location.

Richland is perfectly situated in eastern Washington along the Columbia and Yakima Rivers. The waterways and dry climate provide endless year-round recreational opportunities and adventures. And we’re a short drive away from the mountains for skiing, camping, sightseeing and more.

Locals enjoy our excellent K-12 schools, colleges and universities, as well as our arts scene, events, wineries, trails, golf courses and our nearly non-existent commute time.

The Weather's Just Right

Although we like to boast about our 300 days of sunshine each year, it’s more like 240 days (but who’s counting) with around 20 sunny days from April through October and an average of 29 sun-filled days in both July and August.

The Cascade Range keeps Richland’s rainfall around 7 inches annually, far less than the U.S. average. Our moderate climate and rich volcanic soil provide the optimal combination for agriculture, with 99% of Washington’s wine grapes grown in our region and 300 total crops grown in the state.

Clean, Low-Cost Electricity

Community members and businesses benefit from a clean, reliable, low-cost energy mix with 97.2% of Richland’s power generated from carbon-free sources. Plus, the state enacted a clean energy initiative, requiring 100% of the energy generated in the state to be from carbon-free energy sources by 2045.
